Having a stash of food low in carbs is the key to success for low carb dieters.
But it is often difficult to figure out just which foods you should include in your eating. Although the amount of carbs you can eat increases as you progress on the diet, I have found that it is critical to stock the cupboards and fridge with low or no carb foods to have on hand for snacks or to include in meals.
To identify a food low in carbs, first make note of the total carbs. Then calculate the net carbs by subtracting the fiber. Since fiber is not digested, it does not contribute towards raising your blood sugar and can be subtracted from the carb count.
I have compiled this list of foods. Each
serving is 5g carbs or less so you can feel free to eat it as a snack, or to include it in your regular meals. For the total carb amounts I have listed the “net” carbs.
Hope this list helps in your low carb journey!
